Starting July 1, 2026, the Illinois Department of Early Childhood will officially become the lead agency for Child Care Licensing, Head Start State Collaboration Office Grant, Home Visiting, Early Intervention and the Child Care Assistance Program, Early Childhood Block Grant, and a range of other early childhood support to families, providers and educators.

Please join us on June 23, 2025 or June 26, 2025 for a Listening Session on Illinois’ Daycare Licensing Process. We invite you to come and share your experiences (both the positives and pain points) with the current system and help inform what a future system of daycare licensure will look like in Illinois. These will be virtual events and the content at the sessions will be the same. Spanish language interpretation will be available.
