Starting July 1, 2026, the Illinois Department of Early Childhood will officially become the lead agency for Child Care Licensing, Head Start State Collaboration Office Grant, Home Visiting, Early Intervention and the Child Care Assistance Program, Early Childhood Block Grant, and a range of other early childhood support to families, providers and educators.”

FOIA Requests

The Illinois Freedom Information Act (FOIA) (5 ILCS 140/) allows members of the public the right to request access to government records. The Illinois Department of Early Childhood promotes transparency and accountability by ensuring the public can review relevant documents.  

When identifying public records, please include names of individuals involved, type of report, relevant dates, and be as specific as possible in details.
